On July 25, 2024, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (referred to as CSDDD) is officially effected by the European Council. The legislative innovation of landmark requires companies to do the due diligence in the supply chain of the environment and human rights/social responsibility, and ensure that enterprises in the global value chain will not contribute to negative environmental impact and human rights violations.

CSDDD requires relevant EU and non-EU companies conduct due diligence on the human rights and environmental adverse impacts of their own operations, subsidiaries and value chain operations, it includes the development, use, processing of products or services, and related activities with upstream and downstream partners.

CSDDD ask the Member States to convert the directive into domestic law by 26 July 2026. Companies which violate instruction could face fines of up to 5% of their annual net profit and disclose its punishment information within five years.
